I am by no means an electrical engineer. Aside from from a class in high school (a long time ago) and a little bit of tinkering, I still have a lot to learn. Follow me through these videos as I learn about electronics and hobby boards such as the Arduino and Raspberry Pi.

I'm unclear where he got the SERVICE_UUID etc strings from?
How to enable Bluetooth HFP on RPI4?
Bluetooth on the Raspberry Pi has come a long way in the eight years since I posted this video. Now, you manage Bluetooth the same way you would on any other Linux computer - whether using the desktop or command line tools. If demand is really high enough, I suppose I could revisit the subject.
@@BasementElectronics I tried so many ways, but nothing helped. Can you make a tutorial for it?
HI, May I ask how do you send out the string by the control side? it would be much great if you could share the control side of the code. 🙇♀
Control was done using an app on my phone called nRF Connect. It should be available in all the usual phone app places (Android and iPhone)
@@BasementElectronics good. I am starting to build a remote car with a joystick(my final year project), and I am not considering to use a mobile app, for some security reason. by the time I received your reply. I am able to interpret the code from the control LED example, using the one bit signal to kick start (the characteristic) the motor from the peripheral side. and using the same method to run other characteristics for the movement of the motors. it's not perfect, but sending a string (byte) out is just too complicated for me, as I have zero programming background. Anyway, thank you so much for all the support. the world will be more fruitful for all the youtube channel like this and all the unselfish sharing.
As it turns out, I was wrong. ELEGOO does make the software available through their web site. I added a link in the description.
The source code should be open source for educational projects such as this.
As it turns out, the source code is available. I'm going to pin a comment and add the link to the description.
Wow! thanks for that. I looked everywhere for intstructions and yours are the ones I need. did you end up uploading your code with the changes? Thanks again.
I'm glad the video helped. There should be a GitHub link to the code in the video description.

How about the seeed xiao esp32s3 sense, the tiny one with a camera?
I haven't seen that one yet. I should check it out
Thank you
I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you for watching
When you use the wifi-esp module, can you use the d0,d1 pins ? Is this uart bus used for the ble ?
Yes, I believe so. The connection between the Arduino and the ESP use UART1 while D0 and D1 use UART0
@@BasementElectronics I can see it says TDX/P109 and RDX/P110. Where did you find that it is uart1 ?
Do you know how I can use the regular Bluetooth, and not the BLE ?
'promosm'
The DC motor code works but the DHT11 code isn't. Is it possible that my sensor is broken?
It's possible. I'd try to connect just the sensor to the Arduino. It should make it easier to check your wiring that way
Excellent project for the hobbyist/student.
Definitely! There's lots of solder practice on this board
@@BasementElectronics Absolutely!
What is the Bluetooth App used in this video..? BLE Scanner..?
It's nRF Connect. I have always liked how flexible it is and how much visibility it gives me to Bluetooth communication.
I didn't see anything, did you see anything?
I saw everything! 🤣
Nice job.....
Can you please explain what the April fool joke was in this video?
I think it's that they intentionally were trying to stay in front of the camera in an annoying way
@zanderolson491 Yes indeed! I'd like to think @ricksampson6780 was playing into the joke because goodness knows the camera tends to see the wrong side of my head a lot
@@BasementElectronicsIndeed, I'm well known for my dry sense of humor!
Turn your hat around, or take ir off, the peak makes you have to peak
Happy April 1st, everybody. I made this video in homage to one of the struggles a lot of us deal with when recording videos like this. I hope everybody enjoys the bit of fun I had with this video. In seriousness though, it was really tough to stay in front of the camera like this.
I believe I have seen your canine companion on the Brady Bunch comedy hour.
Not surprising. She is quite the character 😀
There is a larger mod for Ender-3 with z axis and other things. It's on thingiverse if I remember correctly. I'm thinking of doing it but when I'm in mood for it
No doubt. I've seen a lot of customizations available for the Ender-3. I try to be a bit picky when I choose mine because I'm really scared I'll end up making mine useless. If you make that modification, I'd love to hear how it turns out
Clean your contacts (dials & switches), if you have not already. Sometimes it does wonders.
I agree. If I still have that old thing, I might give it a try. I've learned a lot since this came out... (checks date)... eight years ago?!? Time flies!
@@BasementElectronics I bought one after watching your video.. I have a fancier one but this has some nice basic functions that has dial controls vs. Digital menus.
There is definitely something to be said for analog controls. I ended up buying a new, digital one with more functions. I wish I knew better how to use this one at the time. I might have been more successful in repairing it
thanks
I'm glad it helped. Thank you for watching
Were you able to check the auto focus capabilities?
Not really. I have a feeling that's done in software
Thanks for your video on the OV5640. I'm waiting for one I ordered but it's not wide angle. Have an ESP32-CAM with OV2640 located in an HO boxcar to stream "cab" video as it goes around layout. Using external antennae as well. Works but notice some "lines" in the video stream ... so like you ... decided to try the OV5640. Given your experience, I'll be mindful of the heat issue. BTW ... there is a daughter board for ESP32-CAM with USB connector to make programming a bit easier. All the best ...
Thanks. Your project sounds really interesting and I wish you luck. Hopefully my camera just had a defect which is why it overheated. My boards are a little older which is why I don't have the USB daughter board. I don't doubt it would have made things easier.
The ESP32 was overheating, or the camera?
The camera was overheating. I was supposed to get back to that and explain that's why it was stuck to the memory card holder - as a heat sink
Sorry, I got back too late to witness the usb trashing event live, sorry it didn’t work out as planned. Interesting how you work through the problem methodically, step by step, option by option. If you had explained what you were trying to do to solve the problem, the audience could have followed better, I think. Nice to see you being engaged doing things you love to do. Love, mom and dad.
While you are right, the point of the stream was more just to turn the camera on while I research for my next video. Being the first time I streamed in a while, I was also working out a lot of technical details in the background. I hope these get smoother as I go on. I was able to figure things out after the camera turned off and I do believe I got some good material for my next (proper) video.
I believe so.
What is the maximum range possible between the sender and receiver?
That does look like it came from the same designers as the kit I did. Except I decided to torture myself with the surface mount one...
I can't get my audio amplifier board to work. The IC works though.
Thank you for sharing. Quick question, I am trying to send data from peripheral ble33 device to central ble33 device. Do you have any suggestions on how to accomplish it?
You do a better job at reverse engineering devices than "Big Clive", cheers.
I'm really happy that you didn't stab yourself.
Noting wrong with a good 'ol curiosity teardown!
Hello , how to send data from BLE client to specific BLE server when client is connected to multiple servers where all the servers has same service and characteristic UUIDs??
I use the knife blade tip for a lot of smd work. It allows clean dragging and excellent heat transfer. Also turn up temp on iron until solder flows easily.
Excellent SMD rework!
That's a challenging kit for someone who doesn't do a lot of surface mount work. As always, it gets easier with practice. And, yes, a hot air tool is quite handy for de-soldering and re-flowing SMD parts.
Is there no audio or is it just on my end?
I'm getting sound when I watch it from my phone. I'll try a couple other ways too
Sounds good to me.
Welcome back!
Thank you! It's good to be back
Something is wrong with the sound. You might need a new microphone.
I swear sound is the bane of my existence! I have a new setup that probably still needs some adjustment
I believe so!@@BasementElectronics
Where can i get the library file? Ive tried everything and nothing has worked. My kit didn't come with the zip folder that has the library so idk what to do. Help pls and thank you
Where is the list of components? What IR generator board did you use?
Explain by Using the same method to write on the 2nd row of lcd
Hi, this was really useful to me. I followed this and used pieces from your github and was able to get mine up and running (albeit converted to in/hr because I'm working slightly south of you in Philadelphia ). How do I alter the code to give me total rainfall in a rain event? I'd like to have it count the tips over a 24 hours period, but as a non-coding individual, I'm struggling to isolate the "thing" to count over time. I know I could calc it backwards from the rainrate, but I thought an actual count of tips would be more accurate.
